Whilst the level of industrial relations in Cafcass is generally healthy, there are occasions when things go awry. Last week saw the publication of important initiatives around post-qualification and career pathways, as well as proposals to adjust operational arrangements.
Given that the unions have an obvious interest in these areas which have the potential to impact on our members terms and conditions, we have asked that these items are included for urgent discussion at the next scheduled Partnership meeting with senior management next week. Here we will be reminding the employer of their obligations in respect of engagement with the trade unions on such matters.
We fully intend to formally respond to these proposals, but members should be advised that until such time as the above discussions have taken place, and that we have reached an agreed position they remain as proposals.
