Confidence broken. Determination strengthened.

Napo's campaign is entering a crucial new phase. Following progress on pay, workload measures and workplace safety, we're calling on members to keep the momentum going. From getting ballot ready for the upcoming indicative ballot to becoming a local campaign champion, every member has a role to play in securing the changes probation staff deserve.

The past year has been testing for Napo and our members.

We fought hard to secure a better pay deal than was initially on offer; pressured the employer to roll out measures to keep you safe in the workplace; and put a halt to the premature removal of the only tool that evidenced just how dire the workload situation is in probation.

Where many others might have retreated under the pressure, every attempt to hold members back has only strengthened our determination to move forward on key issues impacting our members.

Things are set to heat up this summer, and even though confidence in the employer may be broken, our confidence in our members has never been higher.

We need you to maintain your level of engagement and activism if we are going to continue racking up the wins, because even the small ones accumulate into change you can feel.

Get ballot ready: We’ll be going to an electronic indicative ballot in July to find out if you are ready to take industrial action over workloads. If you will be away during the summer, please log in to the Napo website and set your personal email address as “preferred” so we can make sure you get your ballot email.

Stay engaged: From workloads, pay and CBF, we will be updating members as and when we have information to give. You can make sure you stay in the loop by reading our twice-weekly mailings, participating in our asks, attending the upcoming member meetings and linking in locally with your branch. Make sure you are informed enough to vote in the ballots that will determine the future of the service!

Get involved: Campaigns aren’t really won at HQ. It’s the strength and activity of members at a local level that ensure the fight doesn’t run out of steam before we reach the finish line. We are looking for ballot champions and people who want to maintain noticeboards, right the way through to members who feel called to support colleagues by taking up branch and repping positions. You can put yourself forward by contacting your branch.

  1. I’d love the employer to have the balls to start opening up feedback on their SharePoint posts, turn on the down voting button as well with all their updates, get some real public engagement on staff morale.

I can tell you it isn’t good and people don’t care anymore, if you’re reading this employer, you’re owed 15 months of our apathy and believe me, there are a lot of us who are going to give you just that, we’ve read our contracts, we’ve read what our duties entail and that’s all you’re getting from a lot of us now – there is no more good will, f*** the lot of you.
