Napo Magazine - The Trade Union, Professional Association and campaigning organisation for Probation and Family Court staff news.

Could you be one of Napo’s next NEC Reps?

Napo’s NEC is a crucial committee, making decisions in between AGMs and holding the national Napo team to account. NEC sets the budget and makes staffing decisions as well as checking on progress in carrying out resolutions made by AGM or NEC.

Each branch elects two co-reps to NEC (we elect two to ensure there is always someone available) and one of the co-reps should be a woman.

We also elect two Black Reps to ensure representation.

A number of branches currently have one or two vacancies for NEC reps.  If you are interested in becoming an NEC rep please contact your branch Chair who can liaise with Katie Lomas to arrange an election.

We have to run NEC elections centrally (as opposed to in the branch like other branch roles) but we can do this quickly and easily if your branch has vacancies to fill.

We have five NEC meetings per year and our next meeting is on 16 June. This will be a virtual meeting. If you want to find out more you can attend the meeting as an observer. To do this you need to contact Katie Lomas at Napo HQ. Observers cannot speak or vote in NEC meetings but you will get a good feel for the work we do.

All NEC reps reach the end of their term at AGM this year so a full set of elections will also be held during summer for co-reps to start in the new Napo year after AGM.
