We’re excited to announce that Martin Jones CBE, His Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Probation, will be joining us at this year’s Napo AGM in Newcastle.
Leading the Way in Probation Oversight
Martin Jones brings extensive experience and a fresh perspective to the role of Chief Inspector of Probation. Appointed in 2023, he has a longstanding commitment to public service and the criminal justice system, having previously served as Chief Executive of the Parole Board for England and Wales. His leadership has been defined by a focus on fairness, transparency, and driving improvement in public services.
As Chief Inspector, he oversees how probation services across England and Wales are performing—ensuring they meet the standards required to protect the public, support victims, and rehabilitate offenders. His role is all about ensuring accountability and excellence, and we’re eager to hear what he has to share with our members.
A Chance for Dialogue and Insight
Martin’s presence at the AGM gives Napo members the perfect opportunity to engage with the person at the head of probation oversight. His perspective on the current challenges and future opportunities for the probation service will no doubt spark conversation about the environment members are currently working in.
With the service facing significant changes and ongoing pressures—ranging from heavy workloads and the battle to maintain professional standards—his insights will be particularly timely. His commitment to improving outcomes resonates strongly with Napo’s own mission, making this a session not to be missed.
Martin’s participation in our AGM is a powerful reminder of the importance of collaboration between those delivering services and those ensuring they meet the highest standards. Together, we can help shape a probation service that is effective, fair, and supportive for all.
