Last year, the Secretary of State for Justice imposed a major change to the role of Probation staff in terms of the evidence that they would be allowed to provide in future to Parole Board hearings.
This decision caused substantial anger among our members and was seriously objected to by Napo.
Subsequently it was challenged by the legal representatives of a client seeking release from Prison and became the subject of legal proceedings which are to be considered under Judicial Review in the near future.
