Napo’s push for a probation pay rise was given an extra boost last Friday with members snapping their support for the campaign.

Probation staff up and down the country took part in a photo demonstration holding placards demanding better pay for those working in the service.

At the MoJ headquarters in London, Ian Lawrence, Katie Lomas and representatives from Unison and GMB took the message to the centre following continued negotiations with senior HMPPS leaders.

The unions are calling for a pay rise that is not only reflective of the current cost of living, but also honours the hard and important work of that those working in the probation service carry out.

Want to get involved in the pay campaign?

If you want to help ensure that staff in the probation service are rewarded with the pay they deserve, there are ways you can get involved:

  • Encourage colleagues not already in a union to join Napo. The more voices we represent, the louder our message.
  • Continue the photo campaign with the wording: Probation needs a pay rise. All pictures taken must not identify individuals or workplaces by name and can be sent to: editorial@napo.org.uk or posted to social media
  • Contact your local branch to see if there is anything going on locally that you can support.
  • Check Napo HQ emails, social media and the magazine site for progress updates
