This excellent case study featuring contributions from Nicola Carr and Lol Burke explores the underlying issues which contrived to force the Government’s reversal of their ‘flagship’ Probation privatisation policy, previously introduced by then Secretary of State Chris Grayling in 2014.
Whilst it understandably does not cover the extensive campaigning work and submissions of evidence by Napo to a range of interested stakeholders such as HM Inspectorate of Probation, the House of Commons Justice Select Committee and cross-party politicians during a highly attritional 7 year campaign, the essay makes it clear that without the support and commitment to change shown by Probation staff, reunification would not have been possible.
