When your ballot paper arrives, you’ll see two questions.
Are you prepared to take strike action?
Are you prepared to take action short of strike (e.g. work to rule)?
It might feel like one is more “reasonable” than the other. Or like you should hedge your bets. But here’s the truth: we need you to vote YES to both.
Why? Because each one gives us a different kind of leverage.
Strike action sends the strongest possible message to ministers: that our patience has run out. That we are ready to act.
Action short of strike lets us deploy tactics that cause daily disruption while protecting earnings. It’s flexible and strategic.
But if members only back one option, we’re boxed in. Our negotiating strength weakens. And the government knows it.
Voting YES to both doesn’t mean we’ll use both straight away. It just means we can if needed.
So when the time comes, give yourself (and your union) the tools to win.
Vote yes to both.
Don’t limit our options.
Let’s do this right.
